Ţuca Zbârcea & Asociaţii has made five internal promotions in a bid to further strengthen some of the firm’s key areas of practice, such as Dispute Resolution, Intellectual Property and Environmental Law.
The Romanian independent law firm Ţuca Zbârcea & Asociaţii has announced that five of its team members have been promoted to Senior Associate and Managing Associate positions, as of the beginning of the year. Dispute Resolution saw the largest intake of new Senior Associates, with four promotions.
Bogdan Halcu, Gabriel Văsîi, Diana Agafiţei, Dragoş Călina and Ancuţa Pop were promoted as a result of their performance in their respective fields.
Bogdan Halcu, Managing Associate, specialises in intellectual property law. He advises clients on the registration and protection of trademarks in various industries, counterfeiting and smuggling of mass market products, as well as personal data protection issues. In addition, he has acted for companies operating in the mining, power, chemical and metallurgy industries in relation to all environmental law matters associated with the development of large-scale industrial projects in Romania.
Gabriel Văsîi, Senior Associate, deals with litigation cases, mainly real estate and property disputes. He has represented clients in forced execution proceedings, including in cases involving the recognition and enforcement in Romania of foreign arbitral awards and other foreign court decisions. In addition to his expertise as a pleading lawyer, he advises on corporate governance and commercial law issues.
Diana Agafiţei, Senior Associate, has presented cases before local courts and arbitral tribunals in civil and commercial law disputes arising out of contractual or non-contractual (delictual) relations, unfair competition deeds and other corporate matters. She has represented clients in contentious administrative and labour disputes, while also advising on forced execution proceedings and the opening of insolvency procedures.
Dragoş Călina, Senior Associate, handles insolvency cases and debt recovery proceedings within complex commercial disputes. He also represents clients in labour cases, property related claims, contentious administrative and fiscal disputes.
Ancuţa Pop, Senior Associate, specialises mainly in labour disputes, as well as civil litigation between businesses. She has also acted in contentious administrative cases for the annulment of certain deeds issued by public authorities or contracting authorities during public procurement procedures.
Commenting on the promotions, Florentin Ţuca, Managing Partner, said that the overall performance of the team and professional conduct of the lawyers in the course of the past twelve months had been key to their promotion to Senior Associate and Managing Associate positions. “Our team consists of knowledgeable, talented and top-quality lawyers with proven business and professional skills in managing difficult cases and projects for the firm’s clients. This year’s promotions were made on the basis of transparent evaluation criteria, including the level of professional autonomy and client relationship management,” he added.
Internal development is central to the firm’s business development plans for 2013, with lateral hiring expected in the litigation, labour and fiscal practice groups, as well as further internal promotions, including to partner level.
