Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații wins the “Deal of the Year in Romania” Award
Central and Eastern Europe’s premiere legal publication, CEE Legal Matters, announced the winners of its annual Deals of The Year Awards (DOTY) in 23 jurisdictions throughout the CEE region. The complex transaction whereas Vodafone Romania acquired the stake held by Hellenic Telecommunications Organization S.A. (OTE) in Telekom Romania Mobile Communications S.A. and, respectively DIGI Romania acquired the prepaid business and certain assets of Telekom Romania Mobile was named Romania’s Deal of the Year.
Winners of the 2025 Deals of the Year Awards were announced yesterday evening at a ceremony held for the first time in Bucharest, recognising law firms’ work in some of the most spectacular transactions taking place in 23 jurisdictions across the CEE region. In addition, trophies were handed out to the in-house legal teams who made these transactions possible.
The 2025 Deal of the Year Award for Romania went to the legal teams acting on the landmark deal whereas Vodafone Romania acquired the stake held by Hellenic Telecommunications Organization S.A. (OTE) in Telekom Romania Mobile Communications S.A., while the prepaid business and certain assets of Telekom Romania Mobile Communications were sold to DIGI Romania. The enterprise value of the deal amounts to EUR 70 million.
A team of Romanian and British lawyers from Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații and Osborne Clarke, respectively, assisted Vodafone Romania throughout the acquisition process, ensuring the successful completion of all legal aspects, along with other tax, financial and economic advisors chosen by Vodafone Romania.
The diverse team at Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații was led by Ștefan Damian, Deputy Managing Partner. The group included lawyers specialising in corporate law, M&A, telecom regulations, competition/antitrust & FDI screening, data protection, real estate and labour law: Vlad Cercel, Partner (corporate and commercial law, telecom regulations); Sergiu Crețu, Partner (corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions), along Ioana Pătrașcu, Senior Associate (corporate and commercial law), Alexandra Pereș, Partner (real estate) and Andreea Oprișan, Partner (competition law, antitrust, investment screening).

The winners were selected by two rounds of Selection Committees consisting of senior law firm Partners and in-house counsel from across CEE and announced at the annual CEE Deals of the Year Banquet on May 27, 2026, in Bucharest.
